I started Shalhoob Deli & Catering in 1987, serving deli style lunches and soon developed an off-site catering company specializing in grilled meats. With fifteen years of deli and catering experience, I was prepared to expand the business into a full-service restaurant. In addition to the same great old-school lunch menu, the new venue also boasted a full bar and dinner menu, which was a great success thanks to word-of-mouth and our on-going dedication to consistency, quality, and fun.
As part of our continued commitment to bringing the best to the community, the original Jill's Place is now closed for a remodel. But Santa Barbara's favorite local spot will reopen in 2014 with a fresh new look and a brand new kitchen at the same location. Although we’ll be premiering a new face, you can look forward to the return of your favorite Jill’s Place menu to be enjoyed by you, your friends and your family.
And speaking of family, the Shalhoobs have been in Santa Barbara since the early 1900’s. I’m a fourth generation Santa Barbaran and daughter of Jerry Shalhoob. My father started Shalhoob Meat Company in the same building where Jill’s Place / Shalhoob’s Restaurant will reopen in 2014. And this butcher’s daughter is proud to continue our family business at this location. My father’s original small retail shop expanded to a wholesale meat company and relocated to a larger space at 220 Grey Avenue, where Shalhoob Meat Company still operates today under the ownership of John Shalhoob, Jr., and his daughter and son, Leeandra and Lil John (LJ).
The Shalhoobs thank all of you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you back at the new Jill’s Place soon!
